snowystingray: (flash gordon - cosmic love)
When did I become such a facebook whore? I used to keep such a strict LJ = fandom / FB = real life divide that basically ensured that I never used FB because... well, we all know my fandom >>>> RL priorities; but somehow I migrated all of my TV talk over there and I'm not sure how it happened. WILL BE REMEDIED SOON. Also, this possibly makes me a total bitch, but am I the only one who gets so annoyed when people make completely boring facebook updates? "____ went to work all day, then the grocery store to pick up paper towels, and now I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I'll stop by the post office." UMMM SORRY, NOBODY CARES. (Haha, this is probably how 95% of the people I'm friends with who don't watch Lost have probably felt about me for the past week or two, but... whatever. I demand to be entertained. How dare my friends expect that I be interested in their lives. Psssht! ...Yeah, all right, this does make me a total bitch.)

[ profile] lalumena gave me some interview questions that I have been stalling on answering because they are just so hard-hitting! I am anguishing over choosing the perfect response for them! Girl, journo has made you positively ruthless.

Meme! )
snowystingray: (star trek)
Two memes in one, bam!

Give me a character from any fandom I know at least fairly well, and I will tell you:

B) The runner up
C) The anti-ship
D) My unpopular fannish opinion on said character
E) One person he/she never fell in love with, and why

and also

Reply to this post, and I'll tell you one reason why I like you. Then re-post this and spread the love.
snowystingray: (marian - goddamn nightwatchman)
Bwahaha, somebody has finally made a [ profile] spock_chapel comm. AWESOME. Now, quick, somebody cast Anne Dudek as Chapel in the next Abrams film.

Meme! That I have in fact done before! But, well, [ profile] hulamoth gave me new prompts, and who am I to resist?

Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

Robin Hood, Terry Pratchett, Horatio Hornblower )
Life. Don't talk to me about life!

To cheer myself up, I'll put myself forward for participation in that "five things" meme that is going around. So! Top Five Fannish Things! You know you're curious, so go ahead and ask. (If you're not sure of all my fandoms, because I do cycle through quite a lot, you can cheat and check my tags/userinfo, or feel free to just throw out random stuff because chances are I have at least some thoughts on it, or if I don't I am more than willing to make something up.)
snowystingray: (lost)
Swiped from [ profile] sistergrimm36:

Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions.
Don't cheat!

(I HATE NARROWING DOWN FAVORITES. This is too hard. I decided to leave off Merlin and Star Trek because I included them in the last meme I did, but it still hurts. And Psych! I thought of it too late!)

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
2. Lost
3. Chuck
4. Stargate (I was just going to do Atlantis, but I've been on an SG-1 kick lately so I'll go ahead and smoosh them together)
5. Robin Hood

The questions... Also, um spoilers for all of the shows listed. )

Comment to this entry and I'll pick three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

[ profile] teh_maskmaid chose for me to post about Star Trek, Psych, and Merlin.

Fandom thoughts contained within! )

From [ profile] dollsome:

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you 5 questions.
3. You should then update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You should include this and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed you should ask them 5 questions.

My questions! )
snowystingray: (lost)
Meme nicked from [ profile] eryslash:

1. Pick 15 of your favorite tv shows.
2. Go to IMDB, and find a quote from each show.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the show
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDB search functions.

(Actually, I think I'm changing the rules. Instead of striking, I'll just put the correct answer next to it and white it out in case you still want to play along with ones that have already been guessed. ETA: And I went ahead and included all of the answers which hadn't already been guessed -- still whited out.)

The quotes )
snowystingray: (lawrence of arabia)
Meme from [ profile] arcadiaego:

Comment and I shall:
1. Tell you why I friended you - or why I thought you were awesome enough to friend back
2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
7. In return, you must post this in your LJ (well, only if you want).
snowystingray: (guy/marian)
Meme that I got from [ profile] dollsome like a million years ago and has just been sitting in my drafts waiting to be posted: ten things I love! Today's programming brought to you by the letter R (and please comment if you'd like a letter of your own).

Cut for pictures and YouTube vids of a biggish nature )

...Okay, I think I've discovered why it takes so long for me to finish any memes, because a simple, "Make a list of ten things!" turned into a 1000+ word ramble. Of course!
snowystingray: (Default)
Happy LJversary to me! Six years... This represents a disturbingly significant chunk of my life. I mean that in the best sense, too; I'm a bit blown away that, compared to RL over the last six years, I've made so many more lasting friendships through LJ, been introduced to so many more exciting fandoms and interests, experienced so many more memorable events (but, wow, as if LJ >>> RL was much of a revelation, haha). So in celebration, I'll steal a meme from [ profile] arcadiaego:

1. Pick 15 of your favourite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions. Totally cheating, you dirty cheaters.

Quote away! )

From [ profile] dollsome

01. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
02. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
03. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
04. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview others in the post.
05. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

My questions )
snowystingray: (star trek)
I've had some odd synchronicity going on in my life lately. For starters, I unconsciously coordinated the past week around Venice: we just finished reading The Merchant of Venice in class, and I watched the film with Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino on Saturday; last week I also watched Summertime, the David Lean film with Katharine Hepburn; and I've been rereading Brideshead lately, and am almost at their trip to Venice. The next movie on my list of things to get from the library is Venus, which almost kind of sounds like Venice (okay, now I am stretching it).

Then on Monday night, the final Jeopardy! clue included something about Emile Zola, and I thought, "Doesn't Paul Muni play him in a movie that I keep meaning to watch? I wonder when it is going to be on." The very next morning I checked my e-mail: "TCM Reminder:Life Of Emile Zola, The 1937 playing on Tue. October 23." That same morning I was down at breakfast eating with a friend, who randomly mentioned something about A Midsummer Night's Dream. "Oh!" I said. "That's the next thing we're reading in class, actually." Then I went upstairs and changed the day on my Forgotten English calendar, only to have the vocabulary word and historical tidbit both be about A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Weird, right? Maybe life is trying to tell me something.... Oh well; I will ignore the urgings of fate (whatever they may be) and instead steal a meme from [ profile] foolshavepride.

New, fresh to death meme )
snowystingray: (katharine hepburn)
Meme from [ profile] foolshavepride:

[01] — Look up TEN of your favorite movies on IMDB.
[02] — Click the "trivia" link in the sidebar.
[03] — Post a fun and random bit of trivia from each film.

Who would call these delicious tidbits of information 'trivial'? )

Wow, I actually learned some new stuff from this meme (namely that I waste too much time online -- but wait, I already knew that one!).
snowystingray: (shawn spencer)
Perpetuating the meme isn't really necessary, but if you would like for me to choose some of your interests, just ask!

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post your this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

My seven interests; no pictures, but a bunch of YouTube videos )

Now back to being productive. And by "being productive" I mean "sitting in front of my computer eating ramen and watching House/Wilson videos on YouTube."
snowystingray: (aladdin)
I got one response to the photomeme from [ profile] laughingmagpie, so I took a few pictures of my DVD shelf. )

As long as I had the camera out, I walked around outside for a bit and took some more pictures. I've shared the wild and crazy side of my yard before, so to be fair I've balanced it out with the more picturesque portions. )
snowystingray: (katharine hepburn)
Photomeme, stolen from just about everybody: As I'm sure you're all burning with curiosity to know what my world looks like, your lucky day has come at last. Comment with anything you'd like to see -- no limits on the number of requests -- and I'll take a picture of it for you (as long as my zillion-year-old digital camera feels like cooperating, that is).
snowystingray: (star trek)
McCoy: Spock, I've always suspected that you were a little more human than you let on. Mrs. Sarek, I know about the rigorous training of the Vulcan youth, but tell me, did he ever run and play like the human children, even in secret?
Amanda: Well, he, he did have a pet sehlat he was very fond of.
McCoy: Sehlat?
Amanda: It's sort of a fat teddy bear.
McCoy: A teddy bear?
Sarek: Excuse me, Doctor. It has been a rather long day for my wife. Captain.
Kirk: Ambassador.
(Sarek leads Amanda away.)
McCoy: A teddy bear.
Spock: Not precisely, Doctor. On Vulcan, the teddy bears are alive, and they have six-inch fangs.

I know I'm about forty years behind the power curve, but this show just makes me happy in my heart. Yay.

Oh, and the conclusion of the movie meme:

1: Pickpocket/Rigged Casino/Secret Marriage/Airport Casablanca, guessed by [ profile] stellypippin
2: Costume Party/Rose/Perfume Shop/Painter An American in Paris, guessed by [ profile] stellypippin
3: Dumb Blonde/Library/Fall From Height/Spell Beauty and the Beast, guessed by [ profile] ridiculii
4: Eating Brains/Chandelier/Blackmail/Old Dark House - Clue
5: Wedding Ring/Railway Station/Prostitution/Fire - Gone With The Wind
6: Wedding Gift/Library/Hangover/Reporter - The Philadelphia Story
7: Statue of Liberty/Rollerskating/Poker/Jewish - Funny Girl
8: Lawyer/Impersonation/Based On Novel/Number in Title - A Tale of Two Cities (with Ronald Colman, of course, but for guessing purposes I don't suppose that really mattered)
9: Rich Snob/Music Store/High School Pretty in Pink, guessed by [ profile] ridiculii
10: Secret Admirer/Title Spoken By Character/Mirror Phantom of the Opera, guessed by [ profile] crumpeteer

So it's a tie between [ profile] stellypippin and [ profile] ridiculii, but everybody is a winner in my heart (group hug!).
