New to me TV of 2009. Keep in mind that this is with a self-imposed moratorium on picking up any new TV shows during the fall season, so... this is significantly less unwieldy (significantly more... wieldy...er?) than it might otherwise have been. Spoilers for: American Idol, Ashes to Ashes, Big Wolf on Campus, Chuck, Crusoe, Dollhouse, Farscape

TV of 2009 )

Aaaand I decided to cut this off because I'm cold and hungry and lazy and will probably never ever never get through the whole thing if I decide to do it as one behemoth of a post (...I am only about a quarter of the way through my shows -- and then you know I'm going to blab like twice as long over Lost and twenty times as long over Robin Hood). So expect future installments soon, picking up with... House! Which I literally never write about any more! And yet somehow I still watch every episode because it is impossible for me to drop a fandom. (PLUS WHAT WHAT WHAT MONDAY'S EPISODE WHAAAAT.)
snowystingray: (Default)
Somehow I have been neglecting all of my airing shows in favor of posting about canceled Medieval nonsense and on-a-fifty-million-month-hiatus shows with smoke monsters. Things I Have Been Meaning to Post About (plus spoiler space in case you are caught up on some but not on others)...

House! )Merlin! )NCIS! )

And, okay, apparently it is impossible for me to go very long without mentioning Robin Hood. But! For US viewers! "Do You Love Me" is airing this Saturday on BBCA, and I am urging you all to watch it. Could you say no to this face? Or more importantly, would you want to?

Oh, and I also meant to say that I continue to catch up with The Prisoner. I had kind of planned to finish it before the remake began airing, but I'm not quite sure if I'll make that deadline. The last episode I watched was "The Schizoid Man" and owwwwww my brain owwww. But in a good way.

For the third and final part of my Fictional 2007 review, I bring you my year in television shows. This post has been an embarrassingly long time in the making (as evidenced by the fact that I did the first two within the same day and yet have been adding onto this one for the better part of the week), because, wow. I don't think I quite realized just how many new TV shows I've picked up on the wayside. I remember a few years ago making an agreement with myself to limit my major TV fandoms to only House and Lost, because I was HUGELY invested in both of those and didn't think I could make room for another obsession of a similar caliber. And then somehow I justified watching a few summer shows, some reality TV, maybe some educational programming... and holy bejeebies where did all these fandoms come from? I also blame the fact that, through some installation mix-up or something, I've been getting full cable (70+ channels) at school for the past semester despite the fact that I only pay for basic (about 15 channels); and being the terrible person that I am, I've decided to milk the mistake for as long as I can (and, ooh, spooky coincidence -- my Comcast bill literally just popped up in my inbox as I typed this. Weirdly enough, this is one bill I don't get annoyed at paying; instead, I get excited about having another month of TV!!! :D Yes, I am in desperate need of a life).

Caution: contains lots of large-ish images, as well as spoilery discussion of the most recent seasons of Lost, House, Robin Hood, Psych, Star Trek: TOS, Star Trek: DS9, American Idol, and Pushing Daisies

Part Three: Television )

It's official. I am just completely out of synch with the House fandom. The first time in a while that people seem united in the LOLarious slashiness of an episode is the first time this season that an episode was just meh-ish for me.

But, of course, just because I didn't love it overall doesn't mean there weren't many aspects of awesome. )

Oops, I forgot to post about House. Well, I really only have one main thought about it, but it needs to be shared.

Mild spoilers (speculation, really) for Mirror, Mirror )

Gosh, I might be the only one, but I have really really been enjoying this season of House. Like, really. I don't think I've been able to talk about it in anything other than complete capslock adoration.

The happy ending to my Halloween costume story that started a million years ago: I actually finished the whole thing! On time! Of course, our Halloween party ended up being the day after Halloween, which gave me some extra time to work on it, but I'm proud of myself nonetheless. Oh, and right after I made that post about how I gave up on buying feathers, I decided to go ahead and do it anyway, only with a slightly less expensive selection than I had initially considered. All told, I spent about $50 on the entire costume, which isn't too bad considering the excessive amounts of floofy accessories. Since I don't have a camera, I'll have to mooch photos off of other people before I can share pictures -- hopefully they aren't too embarrassing, haha.

I managed to talk everybody into watching The Lost Boys. And they liked it! They really liked it! Sorry, this is just a new experience for me, as most of my friends are unable to get past the oiled up saxophone player and I'm left going, "Seriously, am I the only one here who had a giant crush on Corey Feldman when I was five? ...Apparently."

Okay, let's see how many different fandoms I can squeeze into one post. Ready, set, GO!

For starters, Damon Lindelof once again MAKES MY LIFE with his AI comments:
In past seasons, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says he had to stay mum about his American Idol obsession because the Fox juggernaut aired in the same time slot as his ABC drama. "This is the first year I'm out of the closet as an Idol fan," he tells PEOPLE. "Nobody can give me crap for cheering on Blake." Lindelof, who attended Tuesday night's show with wife Heidi, jokes that fans of Idol and Lost shouldn't fret that the shows' two-hour May 23 season finales overlap between 9 and 10 p.m. "I promise nothing good will happen the last 10 minutes of the nine o'clock hour so people can see who wins and then they can switch over to Lost and it will really get good."

Oh, Damon. It really isn't necessary to remind me all the time of just how much I love you.

And, you know, he really shouldn't feel bad for supporting Blake. I actually thought he was much better this week than the judges said. To be fair, I think that a good deal of the time his performances demand multiple listenings before I really like them (err... let's not get into just how many times I've already listened to both of his songs since yesterday...), which isn't really a luxury you have on a live television show. I'll refrain from making any predictions about who's leaving, though, because I really do like everybody who is still on. Heck, I really like everybody who made the top six. I think last night's show was definitely hurting from the loss of Chris and Phil.... Maybe it was just having two people go at once that made it seem so much more subdued without them.

And then House. Oh, House... Wilson has officially established himself as the single most perfect character to ever grace my television screen.
snowystingray: (aladdin)
As of late, I've become way too invested in way too many TV shows. Even if it's something that I'm recording, I still drop everything when it comes on, because it would be impossible to wait a moment longer to watch it (okay, lie! Sometimes I'll let it record for about fifteen minutes so I can fast forward through the commercials. But you get the idea). And now I'm trying to deal with my ever expanding list of TV boyfriends. My TV boyfriend was initially open to only one person at a time, but it has become too difficult to juggle back and forth between which one is cooler each week. I've settled on having one TV boyfriend from each show that I'm currently following, which seems reasonable enough. Some were harder to narrow down than others, but I managed to come up with my final list -- complete with lovely visual aids!

This list is longer than is probably healthy, but I just can't help it! )
snowystingray: (cake)
House last night seriously owned my life. So. Freaking. Good.

Spoilers for House Training )

Uggh, I know I watch way too much TV, but I just had to watch American Idol last night, too. I actually think it's really great that they're doing the whole Idol Gives Back thing, but sheesh! Way to drag it out as long as humanly possible! ...Of course, I'm still going to be sucked into watching it again tonight. Curse you, Cake! I am more invested in American Idol than any person over the age of thirteen has any right to be. If either Chris or Blake goes home tonight, I will be very very very sad. I know a lot of people have expressed concern about Chris, but this was actually the first week where I enjoyed his performance more than Blake's. Still, though... *fingers crossed*

Who knew homework would be such a great catalyst for posting on LJ? It's time to do a little fandom catch up!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] crumpeteer: List ten fictional characters you would have sex with are attracted to in a family-friendly fashion (in no particular order) and tag 5 people to do the same. You don't have to include pictures but it'd be nice because looking at hot people is fun. For the purpose of eye candy, I'll only include people that I can share pictures of.

Much loveliness behind the cut )

I got up at 6:45 to pre-register for classes online this morning, and it completely paid off. I got all of my first choice courses, with no reworking of my schedule required. Of course, I just checked about twenty minutes ago and all of the courses that I want except for one are still open, so I probably could have waited and been okay. Oh well, it is nice to have that off my mind.

Even though I got everything I wanted, my schedule is going to be a little lopsided next term. It seems like every class I need to take is Monday-Wednesday-Friday, and I really had to stretch my limits to find something on Tuesday-Thursday. This term I have a perfect balance of classes every day, but in the spring I will have only one TTh class with all the rest on MWF. Well, I guess that's just the way things work out...

Because it's impossible for me to go an entire post without saying something fangirly, I'll do some spoiler-free squeeing over Wilson in last night's House. He was so, so, so adorable and wonderful. Every week I think it there isn't any way that I could possibly love him more than I already do, and so far this season he has proved me wrong again and again. Oh, Wilson. Why must you be a fictional character?
snowystingray: (house/wilson)
Wow, we have so much Halloween candy left over! I guess I have to eat it now... Other than passing out candy, our night was rather uneventful. We to dinner dressed up, but that was about it. Any and all potential Halloween plans were completely subordinated to the RETURN OF HOUSE!!

Spoilery gushing over the latest (and greatest) episode of House this season )

Man, this week and next with back-to-back nights of House and Lost might just be too much for this fangirl's heart to handle.
snowystingray: (house/wilson)
Was it just me, or was last night the greatest episode of House, M.D. in ages?

Spoilers for House vs. God )

Man, I hope that made sense. I have really got to go do some homework, but I might come back and clean this up later, or maybe add some House/Wilson commentary.

EDIT: Okay, I just worked on this post some more, and I'm still not sure that it is any less confusing. If you want to talk about it, I'll be happy to discuss and hopefully make slightly more sense!

(And, hey, no laughing at my Current Music. I know that I should watch less AI, but I just can't help it! And now my punishment is to have this song stuck in my head all day...)
snowystingray: (peanuts)
Happy more-or-less birthday to me! I'm celebrating it by sitting at home (underclassmen have standardized testing, so no classes for me) and working on my prom dress. I also still have English homework, and I suspect that I will have a history test this week, but it's probable that I will not address these issues until the last possible minute.

Happy actual birthday to Robert Sean Leonard! Too bad there isn't an episode of House on tonight. It would be the perfect opportunity for a Wilson-centric episode. Really, any night would be the perfect opportunity for a Wilson episode -- I've been waiting for it all season!

Happy Mardi Gras! I was planning on going to school all dressed up and crazy up until the end of last week when I realized that I didn't have any classes today. Boo. I've got some king cake in the fridge, so I'll just have my own private celebration right here.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] queeniefox: Name your Top 20 List Of Lust, in no particular order.Your neighbor or grade school teacher doesn't count. The list can be male, female or mixed. They can be real life celebrities or characters in a movie or TV show. For example, you might want to gag Mariska Hargitay, while still lusting after Butchy McFabulous Olivia Benson.

My top twenty )

Wow, I spent an inordinate amount of time compiling my list. I wanted it to be as comprehensive as possible (also, it's easy to lose track of time while sorting through mounds of pictures of incredibly gorgeous people).
