Feb. 1st, 2004 01:51 pmYesterday was the most I have felt like a dork in a very very long time. This weekend was the first time in a while that I haven't had any homework (well, one assignment, but I don't really feel like doing it and it isn't due until next week) and I completely ran out of things to do. I was going to go to the movies with my sister, but she didn't get off work until seven so I was watching TV while I was waiting for her. I was watching a nice combination of the following programs: E! News Weekend, Dragnet, Real Access: Foreign Invasion, and a VH1 Special on Clay Aiken. Somebody please save me from myself.
When Bonnie got home and we left for the movie, we were running a little late because she thought we were going to the theatre across town instead of the one in the mall. However, once we actually got there, we really hadn't missed that much; just the trailers (sob!) and maybe the first five minutes of the film. It was kind of weird because everybody else in the theatre probably got a senior citizen discount on their tickets, but even if I wasn't the film's target audience I did enjoy it quite a bit. I had to be the typical fangirl and have an internal freak out (I was very good at controlling my squealing! I was only fangirling on the inside!) every time Billy Boyd said something. He is just the sweetest little thing ever. Anything that he said was automatically adorable. He yells, "Sou' by sou'wes'!" and I am completely in love. Le sigh. Anyway! Back to the movie! I've never read any of the books before, so I really can't say very much about whether or not it was a good interpretation. My general impressions from the film were that Billy Boyd is adorable, Paul Bettany is amusing no matter what film he is in, Russell Crowe looks better with a few pounds on him, huzzah is a great word, and the ocean scares the bejesus out of me. And this is probably one of the most unintelligible reviews of a film that I have ever written. I apologize. I think my dorkiness from yesterday has carried over to today as well. What I mean to say is, see the film, it is pretty good, or at least I liked it well enough, and I should probably sign off and get some sleep before I start sounding even dumber than I already do.
