UGH WHY AM I EVEN POSTING. I JUST FELT THE NEED TO SAY THAT I AM SO FUCKING DEPRESSED AND CANNOT STOP CRYING AND, SOMEHOW, I WANTED YOU ALL TO KNOW THAT.

Somebody please stop me before I listen to this on loop for the 100th time over the past week:

Back to back with this, that is. WHAT THE HELL, LIFE, WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DUMP ALL OF THIS ON ME IN ONE WEEKEND?

I really actually loved every single finale, too (even the Seeker one, which I thought was overall kind of weak in terms of awesome-twisty-build-up/light-pay-off, but UGH I JUST LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH, I DON'T EVEN CARE) but I just can't even deal. WITH ALL THESE FEEEEEELINGS.

HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS ALL ONLY OVER TV. "ONLY" TV, HAHA, RIIIIIGHT. UGH WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

(And now because I'm just that sort of person, I'm bringing up all of my interconnected woe with other finales and ROBIN HOOD and BUFFY and STAR TREK and and and whhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Basically I'm just going to be crying for the rest of my life.)

ETA: SERIOUSLY, HOW MUCH DO I HATE MYSELF? I'M REWATCHING THE A2A S1 FINALE. APPARENTLY THE ONLY LIFE CHOICE I CAN MAKE RIGHT NOW IS TO WALLOW IN PAIN.
snowystingray: (lost - braaaaains)
Would you look at that? I'm finally posting about Lost! (The post brought to you by the fact that I should be sewing buttonholes at the moment, but -- have you ever tried sewing buttonholes by hand? Fact: IT IS A PAAAAIN IN THE ASS; in this case, a pain in the ass x8.) Also, I just listened to/watched the new podcasts (NEW PODCASTS NEW PODCASTS NEW PODCASTS!!!) and I feel they are urging me forward.

Spoilers for 6.01-.02 LA X )
snowystingray: (OM NOM NOM)
New to me TV of 2009. Keep in mind that this is with a self-imposed moratorium on picking up any new TV shows during the fall season, so... this is significantly less unwieldy (significantly more... wieldy...er?) than it might otherwise have been. Spoilers for: American Idol, Ashes to Ashes, Big Wolf on Campus, Chuck, Crusoe, Dollhouse, Farscape

TV of 2009 )

Aaaand I decided to cut this off because I'm cold and hungry and lazy and will probably never ever never get through the whole thing if I decide to do it as one behemoth of a post (...I am only about a quarter of the way through my shows -- and then you know I'm going to blab like twice as long over Lost and twenty times as long over Robin Hood). So expect future installments soon, picking up with... House! Which I literally never write about any more! And yet somehow I still watch every episode because it is impossible for me to drop a fandom. (PLUS WHAT WHAT WHAT MONDAY'S EPISODE WHAAAAT.)
snowystingray: (Default)
Just got through with the Cranford Christmas special -- boy but that series does not cut back on the high mortality rates, does it? On the whole I don't think this was as well put together as the original but, still, high old lady hilarity all around and yay Tim Curry and yay Jodie Whittaker. Overall, though, I'm rather disappointed with Masterpiece Theatre's spring line up. Bahhhhh to Austen encore (well, I will admit that the Northanger Abbey movie was extremely adorable, but epic do not want to the new Emma mini. BECAUSE THAT'S JUST WHAT THE WORLD NEEDED, RIGHT?); Small Island sounds interesting, so I guess I will bide my time until April.

To continue my 2009 review, Books of 2009! )
snowystingray: (ashes to ashes)
SO IT'S AFTER 2AM AND I JUST MARATHONED THE LAST SIX EPISODES OF ASHES TO ASHES AND WHAT IN THE BLEEDING WHAT WAS THAT FINALE? DO I REALLY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT SPRING FOR NEW EPISODES? ARRRGH BALLS.

(Ah well, at least now I can troll for fic without having to worry about spoilers.)

(BUT STILL. AAAARGH WHAAAAAAT.)

I've started and re-started this entry about a half dozen times because I feel the need to correct my shoddy posting record as of late, and yet all I can come up with is a continuous stream of moping about my current Real Life woes, but I've been doing enough of that to those unfortunate enough to ask me, "So, how's life going?" and it is now at the point where it is no longer cathartic but instead quite simply wallowing. But then making my usual recourse to fictional alternatives seems less than savory at the moment, considering that LOST DESTROYED MY SOUL AUUUGHHHHHHHH YOU THINK I'D BE USED TO IT BY NOW, BUT I'M NOT.

(Actually, I only have one Lost-related revelation that I feel up to sharing, and it isn't even spoilery. You know what connection I finally made? LOCKE'S MOM IS LILY CHARLES. HOW DID I NEVER REALIZE THIS? Well, probably because Lily is one gorgeous fierce bitch whereas Emily is, ummm... is there a polite way to say old and nutty? No? I didn't think so. Anyway.)

So to switch it up to something nicer (err, sort of), I shall instead commence shameless begging for some good Sam/Gene recs. I know I'm a million years behind the power curve on this one, but I just finished the first series of Life on Mars AND I AM SO IN LOVE. Right now I'm torn between wanting to finish the whole thing straight away and wanting to hold off so it lasts as long as possible...

You know, I initially picked up Chuck as my fun happy weekly giggles show, and now somehow it has turned into "that show where I sit curled up in front of the TV in a giant anxious jittery ball of nerves wondering what the hell is going on with all my characters arrrrghhhhh" (which, between this and Robin Hood, I have noticed is starting to become something of a pattern with me. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?)

2.21 Chuck vs. the Colonel; sorry in advance for the extreme capslocking contained within )

Proof that I am possibly a hypochondriac: after viewing in close proximity to one another episodes of both Lost and M*A*S*H involving main characters requiring an appendectomy, I have been experiencing pain in that general region all day. Probably just cramps, but -- IT COULD BE MY APPENDIX AND MAYBE THE TV WAS TRYING TO SEND ME A MESSAGE!! Hey. It could happen.

It is interesting, though, to see how much overlap I notice between shows now that I watch waywayway too much TV. For instance! This week's episodes of both Lost and Leverage featured similar gags involving Hot Pockets (both of which made me cry to the television screen, "But that's what the protective cooking sleeve is for, hello!" Maybe they weren't cleared to show its miraculous patented technologies on screen). Then there was the earlier noted incident over the summer where both SGA and Psych had their teams get attacked by hostile monkey forces on the same night, no less. Oh, and both SGA and Legend of the Seeker aired an episode entitled "Identity" within the same week of each other in which a guest actor unwittingly swaps bodies with one of the leads.I seem to have wracked up an impressive ability to recognize the guest stars in basically everything, too. You'd think this might be an incentive to watch less TV, but if anything I'm more motivated to hone these skills and absorb more pointless knowledge. Also, speaking of (TOTALLY AWESOME) actor crossover -- more pimping for Leverage! Both Danny Strong AND Sam Anderson in the next episode! The showrunners must be soooo smug in their geek street cred, sheesh.

To revisit my topic that got cut off last time, more thoughts on the Lost S5 opener. Spoilers! )

Man, I've been using the same Lost icon for a really really really long time. </ random observation>
snowystingray: (merlin)
Okay, I think my face might have broken off from the forty-two minutes straight of ear-to-ear grinning I just did over this week's Merlin.

To all who wished me a happy birthday, thanks so much! It was great. :D Well, it did start a bit rocky -- getting locked out of the bathroom by my suitemates when I was in desperate need of brushing my teeth, spending all morning and the majority of my afternoon on a research project for Restoration and 18th Century Lit, etc. It came together quite nicely by the evening, though. We went out to Chili's for dinner, and afterwards headed to the amphitheatre for a free movie! Back to the Future! And it was predictably awesome.

And oh snap, something about typing the words Back to the Future made me think of last night's Lost... )

Okay, I was going to post a super awesome meme, but I've been online waaay too long, as my birthday is now officially over, so I guess that means it's sleepy time for me. The best birthday present I've received so far: the whole room to myself all weekend! Ahhhh, nice. :) In case you're curious, other gifts include Jaws 30th anniversary DVD (Roy Scheider! *sob*), Catch-22 (because I still have not read it, shame on me as an English major), and my parents' continued financial support of my eduction (I have to go turn in my deposit on Monday, committing myself to another year of pouring money into this place). Hurrah!

HoYay Week!

So, after my last post, I have decided that it is indeed official: thanks first to watching Psych's "Dis-Lodged" and then to House's "Frozen" and "Don't Ever Change," I declare this past week of television to be the pinnacle of slashiness. Maybe it's something in the air...? Who knows? I'm not one to question my blessings; the Lord works in mysterious ways. Of course this has to be commemorated in picspam form, though.

Many many many spoilers for Robin Hood. And included in the discussion are references to spoilers for Harry Potter through book seven and Buffy through season two. And I realize that my opinions might be kind of unpopular at this point. And I'm also being lazy and copying stuff from a lot of comments that I have littered across LJ land for the past day, so I apologize if you've already read some of these same thoughts from me. And this post also reeks of tl;dr, clocking in at almost 4,000 words. And now enough with the warnings.

A separate cut for my disclaimer, which got kind of long. )

Just because I love you, doesn't mean I can't hate you, too. )

AND AT 9:49 P.M., HOUSE/WILSON FANS EVERYWHERE DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAP.

ETA: Spoilers in the comments, if you haven't yet seen 4.03.

Even in the face of its exceeding cheesiness, I am totally obsessed with Robin Hood. What began as a simple summer fling has rapidly escalated into true fangirlish passion. That's right -- I'm like Danny Zuko at the beginning of Grease, trying to act all cool in front of my friends when I see Sandy at school but really going "OMGFLAILAHHHSOEXCITED!!!!" on the inside.

Because OMGFLAILAHHHSOEXCITED the second season starts tonight!

My meager justification for being so invested in this show (i.e. lots of pictures of ridiculously attractive people) )

I can't believe I just spent two hours on a Saturday morning typing that up. Actually, uhh, the sad part is that that is totally believable :/
snowystingray: (blake lewis)
Who says that Lost and American Idol can't go together?? You heard it here first: American Idol Take the Cake Ice Cream + Dharma Fish Biscuits = yum.

American Idol )

Lost )

I'm not sure I'll be able to make it through Pirates tonight; this is all just too much for one fangirl to handle.
snowystingray: (jack)
Ah, I can't believe I still haven't written about Lost on Wednesday. I just... ahhh... I have too many things to say about it and I doubt if any of them make sense. Right now I am mostly urged on by the need to use my new icon... Jack looks like he just found out that they are on hiatus for the next three months. *pets angry!Jack*

Lost fall season finale )

Of course I am sad that we have to wait so long for new episodes, but perhaps it is better for now that I can tone down the obsessing for a while and focus on important stuff (like, y'know, school and classes and finals soon). I can't believe that this term is almost over! We've only got about three more weeks left, yikes.
snowystingray: (desmond)
In case there was ever any doubt that my entire life revolves around TV...

Lost 3.05 )

I can't believe that there is only one episode left of the "fall season." I have a strange feeling that I am going to just go completely catatonic after next Wednesday.
snowystingray: (desmond)
Now that Lost is back on, I have something to live for! I also have something to post about.

Spoilers through 3.01, with added speculation )
snowystingray: (lost)
I should really post about graduation, but right now I am in such an OMGWTFPOLARBEAR!!! mood about TV and ahhh I must talk about it! Spoilers behind the cut, obviously.
