Against all reason, I actually totally bought into the gooey mushy Snape/Lily stuff, so I kind of hope that RH takes a similar direction with Guy/Marian -- but I just CANNOT get over Lupin in DH. Uggghhhh. To the point where the connection didn't even really occur to me much while typing out this post because I have repressed the fact that it ever happened. Really, though, that's such a great analogy for what they did to Marian in this episode -- they needed some dramatic tension for the finale, made a much beloved character do some really really stupid stuff in order to fuel that tension, and then killed them off at the end because they realized that they'd already screwed that character out of everything which had once made them great, so once they served their purpose they were free to go. RIP MARIAN AND LUPIN, both awesome characters unjustly butchered by their authors long before they were actually killed by the baddies.
