Graduation last night was more or less hectic. It was definitely a lot different from when my oldest sister Bonnie graduated; I think just our immediate family and my grandmother went to that. Last night, however, we had: Me, my sister Bonnie, my sister Nickie, my mom, my uncle Bernardo, my uncle Cervando, my grandmother Teresita, my brother Dallas, my cousin Billy, my uncle Grover, his wife April, my aunt Margaret, my cousin Robert, his wife Erica, my dad, his cousin Keith, his wife Susan, their son JJ, their daughter Sarah, my great-aunt Tot... We all went out to Applebee's before graduation and we took up about an entire side of the restaurant.

Applebee's is right across the street from the stadium where they were holding graduation, but it is way down the street from the nearest crosswalk. People were making a mad dash across Cypress Gardens Blvd., but I actually place some value on my life so I decided to walk all the way down to the crosswalk. The shoes that I wore last night have never really given me any problems. However, I haven't worn them in quite a while, and walking half a mile in shoes that your feet really aren't used to is NOT a good idea. I now I have two huge blisters on the inside of my feet... Ow... (but I have an excuse for wearing Harry Potter Band-Aids!)

We got there about an hour before the ceremony actually started (to get the best seats, of course), so Bonnie and I were walking around while we were waiting for it to start. We ran into a bunch of her old friends from LRHS, but I really didn't see that many people that I knew. My feet starting hurting a lot more, so we decided to go and sit back down.

When the actual speeches started... Well, LRHS has some pretty good speechwriters, but not a lot of good speakers. My sister's speech wasn't bad, but you could tell that her voice was all shaky... Aw... Emotions! Anyway. She gets brownie points because she used a BtVS quote, and because she ended her speech with "McCall OUT!" (Bonnie and I made sure that she did both of those things, and she followed through quite nicely). Then came the lo-o-o-ong process of handing out diplomas. My sister graduated second in her class (I know! Only number two! Slacker...), so she was done relatively early. I of course felt compelled to sit through the entire ceremony, but most of our group left after Nickie walked across the stage. Instead of the traditional tossing of hats, at the end of the ceremony everybody lined up around the baseball field and then ran around like crazy people. What a great way to capture the true LRHS spirit! They played some incredibly lame music (including the Spongebob Squarepants theme and that incredibly annoying Vitamin C song that always makes people cry at the end of the year) and then we all left.

And now I'm out of school! Well, technically, school is still in session today, but I don't have any finals to take so I am staying home today.
