I spent pretty much all week being sick. It was less than fun, because for once we were actually doing stuff in school that prevented me from staying home. On Monday I had to work on an English project, on Tuesday I had an A-Team competition (we lost, and we don't have a sponsor any more, either), on Wednesday we had mid-terms (I made an A on all of them, three cheers), on Thursday we had school pictures, and by Friday I wasn't really sick enough to merit staying home. Sigh!

Yesterday I was at the swim meet all day long, because my mom "volunteered" me to help out. It wasn't really that bad, though. All I did was time, and that is easy enough. I got eight desperately needed volunteer hours as well. Actually, I was there for about twelve hours, but they'll only count eight hours per day. I talked to some people from IB, mostly about LRHS v. IB (um... pretty much the same), swim team (NO, I'm not on the swim team any more!), and psychology (scary videos of frontal lobotomies). There were some kids from my English class there as well, and mostly we talked about our projects for "The Great Gatsby," and how none of us have really started yet (um, heh, that's what I came online to work on, actually). The morning was more fun than the afternoon. I got to time with Mrs. Kennon, who is the absolute coolest ever. We were also in lane four, so it wasn't too boring. In the afternoon we had to split up to help people who were first time timers, and I was moved down to lane one where all the groupies hang out and yell really loud. It was also going really slow in the afternoon because they were handing out ribbons to everybody, which took forever.

Today I am going to Christie's to work on our "Gatsby" project, and I still need to finish watching my movies from the library. I got "The Great Gatsby" (Robert Redford version) which I watched on Friday, and the whole thing was better than the one part I had seen before (the shirt scene, yeah, it is kind of weird). I really liked the "You loved me...too?" and the final pool scene. Some of the casting wasn't exactly what I pictured (Tom, Jordan, Myrtle, etc.). At any rate, I think it was worth watching. I also got "Wuthering Heights" (Laurence Olivier version), so I guess I'll watch that this afternoon.

We talked about frontal lobotamies in PSYC 100, but alas, we didn't get to see any movies (although the descpription of someone being awake while having an ice pick jammed into his eye socket and up into his brain, where it'd be swished back and forth was rather interesting).

I was surprised that they showed the video in our class. I mean, we're a bunch of tiny, impressionable teenagers and they decided it's okay to show us very graphic ickiness... Ew... Yeah, you weren't really missing out on much.
