I hope everybody had a great Christmas! Aside from our weird weather (alternating between sweltering heat and torrential downpour), we have been having a very nice holiday. The main highlight has been a surprise visit from my sister and brother-in-law, who haven't been down in Florida since May. Well, actually, I was the only one who was in on the surprise, but it was still a lot of fun to see everybody else's reactions!

Since I'm mentally still about four years old when it comes to omg presents yaaay!!!, I'll go ahead and gush about all the cool stuff I got.

-from my roommate: a Wallflower air freshener (is she trying to hint at something??)
-from my sister: tickets to The Nutcracker in Tampa (we went on Saturday and it was fantastic)
-from my other sister: a Gap gift card, Pirates of the Caribbean pen and pillowcase
-from my brother: Star Wars Episode III DVD
-from my aunt: a sewing kit, pearl necklace and bracelet set
-from my parents: Aladdin soundtrack, Casablanca soundtrack, A Tale of Two Cities DVD, Stand-In DVD, Shirley by Charlotte Bronte, Erte wall calendar, Forgotten English desk calendar, luggage, 2007 annual pass to Cypress Gardens
-from myself (yes, I always get myself the best presents!): In the Picture: Production Stills from the TCM Archives, a goofy chandelier T-shirt from Old Navy that reminded me of Phantom of the Opera

Stand-In? As in Leslie Howard, Joan Blondell, Humphrey Bogart Stand-In? I LOVE that movie - I requested it on TCM ages ago and they graciously played it. I didn't know there was a DVD!

Well, I suppose thanks are in order, then -- if they played your request this past summer (June/July-ish), that was when I first had a chance to watch it. It's is a pretty bare-bones DVD, but the movie is so fantastic that it doesn't really matter much. I'm a shameless Leslie Howard fancier, and he is quite wonderful in it.

I'm quite taken with Leslie Howard, but that has calmed quite a bit since high school ended.
