Okay, these are probably new to nobody but me, but -- I was just browsing through the image galleries at Lucy Griffiths Online because, I don't know, I like to torture myself with the fact that SHE NEEDS TO BE IN MORE THINGS and WHY DOES SHE HAVE SUCH DODGY HAIR NOW and UHHHH OH MY GOD WHAT? IS THAT LAV-LAV? and other such nonsense. Um, but anyway, I digress from the true subject of this post -- the quotes page! How have I never heard some of these before?:

[About starting Robin Hood] "Everyone was completely new to me. They all knew that it was in their best interests to be friendly, but I just think these people are pretty damn funky!" Best cast description ever Y/Y?

"Marian is not exactly a weak character; she's physically quite able, as well as verbal, and she actually goes around doing her own fighting and protects other people. She's a strong woman and, although she loves Robin Hood desperately, you get the feeling that she could live without him because she's strong enough on her own." OH. OH. JUST... ♥ ♥ ♥

"I just absolutely love working with Richard [Armitage]. He’s probably the best scene partner I've ever had… He allows me to say what I think about my performance and his performance without getting angry about it, and the other way around. I often will ask him if there’s something he can suggest to help me out, or if he can give me a reason. If I’m finding something difficult, I can ask him why he thinks that might be. We have a very good friendship as well. We laugh a lot together." If they never ever manage to ever do another project together, it will be such a tragedy.

And in related news of lovely ladies who wow me with their awesome interviews, it seems every time there is a new article about Katie McGrath I just fall in love anew: 1 2 I had no idea she used to be a wardrobe assistant! That's awesome! Or that she was set on doing journalism but then changed her mind after, uhh, actually doing it. That I can certainly sympathize with. I don't really know why, but I am so utterly charmed by her career path, haha. ALSO ALSO ALSO I cannot waaaaait for "To Kill the King" to air on NBC on Sunday. I might cry slightly less this time because I'll get my family to watch it with me but, man, she is such a friggen powerhouse in that episode.

Ooh, and somebody at [livejournal.com profile] isabella_giz introduced me to this blog which has some gorgeous scans of Lara Pulver that, again, are completely new to me. How have I been missing out on all this stuff for so long?

Did you see that trailer of that new movie she's in? Which looks ultra ultra low budget but Lucy's still adorable. I didn't like her that much at first but she really has grown on me.

And...I love all of those quotes. A lot. Especially: I just think these people are pretty damn funky! OH LUCY. ♥

As regards the content of that blog (a) wow, Lara Pulver's just so tiny! and (b) this continues to amuse me.

Yeah, that is Jessie Cave! They were in the play Arcadia together which apparently was all kinds of amazing.

!!! Which one? I don't think I've seen anything new in a while... the most recent thing I have is U Be Dead which I still haven't gotten around to finishing. (LUCE. YOU ARE THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. But that movie is boring as hell, sorry to say. I might still go through it and skip around to all of her scenes, I dunno.)

I think I was just a bit surprised to see Jessie Cave because, hey now, she looks exactly like Lavender Brown in real life! (I mean, in terms of style choices and such.)

This one! It looks all crappy and student-budgety which makes me sad, but (IIRC) she's doing it as a favour to a friend. PLZ GET BETTER JOBS, LUCE. :((((

Really? I quite liked it, though I felt the pyschotic stalker idea was maybe a bit implausible. But then, it is based on a true story? Which made it more creepy, somehow.

What I really want is for her to get cast in a costume drama. MAKE IT HAPPEN, BBC. She's not in Emma (alas) but...I don't know, there'll be something else in the works, surely. Um. There must be SOME great literary adaptation that hasn't been adapted in donkey's years...Tale of Two Cities, maybe?

Haha, yeah, I know. There's this hilarious picture somewhere of her with Evanna, looking totally in-character despite obviously being at some premiere or other.

Thanks! I hadn't seen that yet! I... almost like it better for the fact that it's low budget-y? At least it makes it seem like the hair makes more sense in context, as you suggested in your other comment. PLUS. EVEN WITH BAD HAIR. SHE IS SO SO SO SO ADORABLE.

I didn't get super far into U Be Dead but was having a hard time getting into the story. Lucy! Don't hook up with strange older men unless they're Armitage! I tried to sit down and watch it straight up, but was bored; and then I tried to have it on the background while I did other stuff, and was also yawn-y... I think maybe I've just been watching too much genre TV; when it's something normal/modern/real-life-ish, I find myself thinking, "where's the time travel/aliens/medieval setting/magic/space ships/etc.??" Oh, me and my low-brow tastes.

YESSSSS I would love for her to be cast in a costume drama mini. Actually, ooh, I finally read Shirley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_(novel)) the summer before last and promptly decided that it should get costume drama treatment ASAP. It has a very Armitage-type character except I doubt that would happen because it's kind of close to Thornton (morally gruff mill owner), but whatever they should put him in it anyway, and then Lucy would be great for the titular Shirley. THIS SHOULD TOTALLY HAPPEN.

I can understand that! Sometimes I feel the same way - that normal tv dramas are too mundane to hold my attention? But I dunno, with this one the whole relationship thing got me interested. Plus, I was intrigued to see Lucy's performance. I didn't wholeheartedly like David Morrissey's character, but I think that may have been intentional?

I didn't read the whole summary (SPOILERS! haha) but I do like the sound of it. It's more likely to get adapted than say Agnes Grey, though I do have a soft spot for the latter novel after listening to the audiobook. Agnes Grey probably doesn't have nearly enough sex or sexy angst (a la Jane Eyre, haha) to get the necessary viewer numbers. Unless they combined it with biographic details of the Brontes, perhaps. Like the Mansfield Park movie?

LAV LAV, NOW YOU HAVE TO GET LUCY A ROLE IN THE NEXT HARRY POTTER IT IS YOUR DUTY
{breathes}
you're right about the hair. It looks like shit. I'M SORRY, LUCE, BUT IT DOES.

If they never ever manage to ever do another project together, it will be such a tragedy.
Yes completely. I almost want to write them fanmail saying as much but I hope they don't take it the wrong way? Also I want to be very particular about how I write the one fanmail they'll ever read from me and make it perfect and perhaps include a vial of my blood induce them to look me up and propose marriage. So eventually this will happen but not today.

I knowwww. This makes me so sad. Just today we were out to lunch conversing about people with really really bad hair dyes, especially the sort of awful straw-looking-and-clearly-very-fake blonde, and it pained me deep in my soul to realize that Lucy was in fact the very first person to spring to mind as an example. :/ Well, okay, here (http://lucy-griffiths.com/Gallery/displayimage.php?album=122&pos=3) it looks kind of cute (except I just noticed The Braid, ahahaaaa. STILL THOUGH IT IS CUTE OKAY), buuuut damn girl, what happened to this (http://lucy-griffiths.com/Gallery/displayimage.php?album=6&pos=121)? She was like my hair goddess.

Well, on the day you decide to finally write the Most Perfect Fanmail, I demand to have a read so I can steal it and send it under my own name so they propose marriage to me.

Maybe the dodgy dye job is for the movie? As in, her character's supposed to be a bottle-blonde?

Hey, you stole my stealing the Most Perfectest Perfect Fanmail idea!

I think she dyed her hair that color in mourning for Maz or something. She never wanted to look as good as she did back then.

Or that she was set on doing journalism but then changed her mind after, uhh, actually doing it.

So I guess there is still hope...

That's how I read it! Umm, okay, probably wishful thinking -- "Hey, this girl had a few career bumps but now stars on a rather successful action-adventure fantasy series. THAT MUST BE WHAT HAPPENS FOR ALL OF US. HURRAY!!" But in the sense that you're not going to totally screw up your life if you don't set out on the career path you first envisioned, or that it doesn't make you a total malcontent freak if something you were committed to turns out not be your cup of tea. Seeing as how that is basically the STORY OF MY LIFE right now, I find it... somewhat heartening? It makes me feel slightly less lame/like I'm subconsciously sabotaging my own life, anyway.

Ah, her comments about Richard are so tear-jerking! I just think about the finale, and how much they agonized over it, and...and it was just a horrible end. She liked working with him so much, and then Guy has to go and be the one to kill Maz. But I suppose it was best that they were so close by that point, because they could discuss it.

Her comments about RA are also drool- and squee-inducing. He's such a gentleman and all-around nice fellow!
