I AM PHYSICALLY/MENTALLY/SPIRITUALLY INCAPABLE OF GETTING ANYTHING DONE THIS EVENING. So instead I will spam you with my distractions:

-Kate/Sayid fans come out of the woodwork; BETHANY REJOICES.

-Completely random vids of amazingness:

It is a well-known fact that I heartily approve of any and all Britney vids; it is perhaps a lesser known fact that I am a sucker for unapologetic actor porn vids. BEHOLD THE MARRIAGE OF THE TWO--

And then -- holy crap. I know every time I do vid recs I end up including something of [livejournal.com profile] talitha78's, but everything she makes is so amazing. And these are both older vids, so how did I miss them the last time I drooled over her channel? I swear that place is just a magical fount of beauty, because every time I go I discover something new and wondrous.

First: CRUSOE. FRIDAY/CRUSOE. TO GEORGE MICHAEL'S "FREEDOM."

RIGHT? RIIIIIIIIGHT. You know that perfect warm deep-down feeling you get when you witness a piece of SHIPPY PERFECTION? I have had that feeling all day because of this vid.

And and and, SARAH WALKER BADASSERY:

-I have also been wasting my life making pointless gifs. This just in: JONAS ARMSTRONG MAKES THE MOST ADORABLE DOOFY FACES EVER. A tiny sampling of my ever-growing folder...

And, right, even LOST VIDEO PODCAST GIFS. GUYS GUYS GUYS I NEED TO GET A LIFE ALREADY.

OKAY OKAY I'M SEWING NOW. I... I... I really am. (Or maybe I'm going to go watch more Ivanhoe. Hmm. I was kind of slow to warm up to it, but now that I'm a bit over halfway through I'm like OMG OMG WHAT IS HAPPENING?? [I, uh, yeah -- I basically have zero foreknowledge of this text. I didn't even know Robs was actually in it, hahaha HOW UNCULTURED AM I.] Also, ugh, I'm kind of annoyed that the DVD box TOTALLY LIED to me. It says "Runtime: 150 Minutes." So yesterday I put in the first disc over breakfast, watched about 30-40 minutes, went about my day. Before going to bed I was like, hmm, I guess I can finish out the disc -- assuming it's half of the 150 minutes, then I should have less than an hour to watch, right? And yet it went on... and on... and onnnnnn... and ONNNNNNN...! I was determined to at least finish out the disc, but I finally gave up and walked into the kitchen to find that it was 1:30AM or something ridiculous. So, yeah, IMDb says? 270 MINUTES. GO FIGURE. I started on the second disc today so I'd guess that I'm about 65% of the way through.)

can I say I love your giffing proclivities and they have inspired me to start finding ways (incompetently) to make my own?
alas, I cannot hotlink

also I'M SO SORRY IVANHOE IS SO LONG. It's good for sewing, if nothing else - you can tune out the boring parts.

Heeeee, TWIRLY AND ADORABLE. (I feel so bad that their adorable scenes in 2.04 and 2.05 are literally the only thing I focus on from those episodes -- I was just thinking about popping into [livejournal.com profile] roh_wyn's 2.04 rewatch, and then realized that the entire Will plot of that episode bores the pants off of me and the only good bits are when Vaysey is all "LOL MARIAN TRY HARDER, like Guy even cares any more," and Guy is all, "but but but awkward puppy dog eyes I dooooo except wait I can't say that" and shuffles off weirdly. Augh, seriously, I am anguishing over screencaps of that scene right now AND THEY ARE SO WONDROUS -- aaaand that lasts all of ten seconds, so. Err. I don't have much to contribute about the rest of the ep [well, there several brilliant Vayseyfaces, aren't there? I can't remember, it's been a while since I watched it. OH RIGHT AND ROBIN ERROL FLYNN-ING DOWN THE WINDOW. AND THEN WILL'S CRACKTACULAR TRIBUTE TO HIS DAD. Okay, shoot, maybe I do like more about this episode than I remember.] ...This comment has wandered off into a weird place. In short: THEY ARE TWIRLY AND ADORABLE, so thank you kindly for your gif contribution. Here's another one in reciprocity:

I don't mind the length of Ivanhoe! I just wish it had been properly labeled. (Of course if I was a normal person I would have either 1) looked at a clock at some point in time or 2) checked the playtime left on the DVD time count or 3) just turned off the damn thing, but instead I was in super stubborn GODDAMNIT I MEANT TO FINISH THIS DISC TONIGHT AND I DON'T CARE IF IT GOES ON FOR ANOTHER HOUR, I AM WATCHING IT!!!! mode which makes... zero sense, but there you go.) Seriously, though, I just checked again to make sure I didn't misread it, and the DVD says "150 minutes + extras." I'm assuming by extras they mean...? Oh, I don't know, THE OTHER HALF OF THE MOVIE??! Sigh sigh.

But on to the movie itself... like I said, I really don't know much about the story at all, and it seems like ages since I've watched anything new (I've been in epic rewatch mode lately, what can I say), so that alone is kind of exciting. I think (hope?) I passed most of the boring parts at the beginning -- now I'm all in the EXCITING ACTION and ABDUCTING LADIES AND VIKINGS and SLITTING THROATS and BURNING SHIT DOWN business, so it's clipping right along. I also think I ship everybody/everything, which is getting kind of complicated. I'm assuming the endgame is Ivanhoe/Rowena reunion? And... yet...! I am totally sold on Rowena/de Bracy. And Rebecca/Ivanhoe is adorbs. But now what is this with Rebecca/Gilbert? MY FEELINGS ARE SO CONFUSED. Okay I should probably watch the rest. (Also blah blah things that have nothing to do with shipping -- GKR is still kind of an asshole, which I actually find pleasing in a weird way. I wasn't totally digging this PJ at the beginning, but he has since grown on me. The whole tournament scene -- holy A Knight's Tale, Batman! I thought you were supposed to be a Chaucer rip-off! I'm looking at the world in an entirely new light. Also, lol, I feel so stupid but I still find it hilarious and awesome that Robin & co are actually in this. How how how did I not know that??)

HAPPY GRRRRRIN

actually I've been loving those rewatches. Not because I participate but because it's a good way to refresh my memory on what goes on without actually having to sit through all the boring parts. And the review they did for 2x03 was RIDICULOUSLY GRATIFYING especially as I know that rewatch group is not a G/M community and yet it included this line:
"Let's get something straight. Marian may not LIKE Gisborne, but she WANTS him."
:D shallow? yeah well

you're actually not alone on the confusion re: Rebecca/Guilbert
I think it works better in other adaptations but this one eventually made me want to hurt Rebecca physically. I wrote a long anguished review of it that combined frothing at the mouth at RL stuff and so I set the entry to private and NO ONE SAW it. :( I should repost that.

also ROWENA/DE BRACY I WANTED THAT SO BAD. Apparently the fate De Bracy meets in the book is not the fate he meets in the movie and so I won't spoil it for you but KEEP. THAT. IN MIND.

and yes. canonical cross-fandom assholish ness of GKR is deeply gratifying.

Okay, good -- because I just watched, err, that part yesterday and literally sat up and said, "buuuullSHIT" at the TV (hey, what, everybody else was on the other side of the house yelling obscenities at the Super Bowl, so I can swear at Ivanhoe if I so choose).

I'm still too ooshed-out by Rebecca/Guilbert to actually ship it (yeah, right? Even I have limitations) but it was a completely unexpected development for me so I was super curious to see how it would play out. I just got past the trial and the announcement of "trial by champions" bit, though, so now I'm like -- ooookay, I can see exactly where this is going, so I don't know how interested I am any more. But, NGL, I still ship the heck out of Rebecca/Ivanhoe (which is weird considering that Ivanhoe is such a nonentity in the majority of this adaptation, and... yet... I love him and think he's adorable. And I kind of ship Rowena/Ivanhoe, too. WHATEVER).

Also, gosh, PJ gets increasingly awesome in this version. Sorry I said you need more pizazz at first, dude.

Toby Stephens!! He looks perfectly doofus-y-- in a good way, like his character was probably really entertaining.

Wait, so am I supposed to take it that you never watched any of his episodes??? (I can't remember -- did you watch any of S3?) GURRRRL GET ON THAT. Here, I'll get you started on this mess. (Sorry this clip is weirdly edited, but IT'S HIS FIRST SCENE, RIGHT, and it only gets better from here.)

I have to admit that there have been times that the only thing that saved Merlin was Bradley shirtless. *sigh*

Hm, true... and yet somehow I don't begrudge the show this fact? </ shallow>
