Am I the only person who has been hearing all this stuff about "The Lord of the Rings" being turned into a musical? And am I the only one who is getting really weirded out by the idea?

I certainly hope not, but (and this is sad to admit) I watch "E! News Live" almost every day, and this is about the third time that I've heard it mentioned. It's supposedly set for release in 2005, which is also silly because, honestly, I think people are going to have LotR burnout by that point in time. If you're going to do something completely pointless, at least wait a few years for people to forget about what they should be comparing it to.
