I have been suffering from a complete and utter lack of (enjoyable) things to do with my life. I do, however, still have some birthday money left over, so somebody needs to help me decide how to spend it to best amuse myself. I have pretty much decided that I want some new books, but I don't really know what to buy.

The Books I Have Bought Recently:
-The Knight of Maison-Rouge; I really enjoyed this one most of the way through and, although I think the end was fitting, I am still undecided as to whether I like it or not. Overall, it was the sort of thing that would appeal to me, though ::love to Lorin::
-Princess in the Spotlight; I just started on this one today, and although I have to hide what I am reading from everybody I do like it so far. Three cheers for people who watch BtVS.
-Princess in Love; haven't started on this one yet
-The Light Fantastic; the only other Discworld book I have read is "The Colour of Magic." Although I don't remember everything that happened in it (bad me, I read it for the first time only like six months ago or something), I do remember that I liked it.

Books I Have Been Considering Buying:
-The Three Musketeers; I do really want a copy of this, but it is so hard to find a nice one. They all have some pervy looking fop on there that would frighten me half to death if he were staring up at me from my shelf... ::shudders::
-Gone With The Wind; Same deal as above. I want a copy, but the ones that they have are the overdramatized corny romance novel looking covers that middle aged women read on the subway. So. Yeah.
-At Swim, Two Boys; I've had a ton of recommendations for this book, but I still haven't read it yet. I have been meaning to... This is probably one that I will end up buying...

Anyway, if any of you guys have any suggestions for books to read, I would greatly appreciate them. Unless of course you suggest "The da Vinci Code," in which case I will have to cry.

EDIT: Bugger. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow ::hates life::

both michelle and Benji are reading Three Musketeers... and the picture on the front is just a portrait of some dead dude... with the silver-gray background and plain writing... er... but they both seemed to like it, despite trying to convinve Bobby it'd take him too long to read... o.O
Gone with the Wind - don't worry about the girly cover... I think its one of la Cori's favoritest all-time books... and she reads a lot... and likes it...
uh.. yeah, i'm bad at book recommending because I'm too zonked to read anymore... I'd like, one day... but alas and alack.... I don't.

I definitely love "Gone With The Wind," but I don't fancy having to hide the cover with my hands every time I want to read it. I could go for the hardcover copy, but book jackets hate me (they get all smushy, blah). I might go ahead and buy it anyway...

I found a copy of "The Three Musketeers" that I liked, but, dude! There were these huge creases all down the cover, and I was not about to shell out some money for damaged goods. I think I will just have to steal it from the library (or order it online, whatever works).

At Swim: DEFinitly buy. But if you can, get the hardcover, because I believe the softcoverleaves out the first few pages-- not necesary to the plot, but beautiful nonetheless. Actually, if you do buy the softcover, let me know, I'll write out the first few pages for you. You need to read them THAT badly.

DaVinci Code is the suck.

I'm currently reading Mad in America by Robert Whitaker (I belive). It's a history of psychiatric treatment and if you're into that kinda thing, it's completely riveting, but otherwise it's nerdy and a little TMI. I like it, though.

Read some classics. Some Ovid or Thucidides if you can get your hands on a good translation. Herotodus, Aristophanes, Plutarch is brilliant. All a bit heavier reading than you're probably looking for, though.

Good luck at the dentist! I hate those guys...

Yeah, I think I have more or less decided on "At Swim, Two Boys." I might drop by the book store while I am up in Orlando tonight...

The dentist didn't turn out to be all that bad, because I didn't have to do fluoride this time. Consequently, it only took about ten minutes, and short visits are always the best! Except now my mouth is all sore... Too much poking...
