Do they give awards for sheer amount of random stuff browsed online? Because I think I must be subconsciously trying to win one. Of course, this can only mean one thing: LINKSPAM.

- Epic GoFugYourself post is EPICCCCC. This video completes my life:

- Sepinwall and I do not always find ourselves in agreement, but SO MUCH TRUTH RIGHT HERE regarding 3.05: Spoilery for Chuck vs. the First Class )

- [livejournal.com profile] foto_decadent is one of those places I check on once every year or something, because a lot of it is unremarkable but then there is always a smattering of AWESOME and I prefer to have it in concentrated form. THINGS OF WONDER:
-I've been searching for a new look for my hair, and I think this is totally it.
-Old but fabulous: Claudia Schiffer pin-ups.
-Sorry, I have no other words: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEE.
-Okay, I think a lot of this is too literal but, gosh, gorgeous vintage shoot.

- Why is etsy window shopping so addictive?:
-I'm so used to seeing poorly constructed macaroni-on-construction-paper level stuff on here that, HOLYYYY CRAP, THIS JUST BLEW MY MIND.
-This store sells basically the most superfluous accessories ever and yet now I crave an embroidered ribbon-and-lace collar. :/
-Chuck inspired gifts. Fabulous. I am seriously considering getting the hand grenade soap for my father's birthday.

- Trolling YouTube:
-I always manage to forget that there are a lot of people in RH fandom who are old school Xena fans, too. [livejournal.com profile] aoxelfrieda's channel is like candy to me right now. XENA/ARES VS. XENA/AUTOLYCUS TO "TWO PRINCES", okay? It doesn't get much better than that.
-Fantastic Ashes to Ashes fan trailer
-Whiiiiite Collar! (i.e. BOMER'S BEAUTIFUL FACE, I WILL NEVER BE OVER IT.)

- BEST LOST NEWS EVER. (NON-SPOILERY.)

- Okay, yes, I totally teared up at the De birthday post.

- And because I watched NCIS in the midst of writing this post: ahaaaa, OH TONY. I know sometimes I hate you, but... sometimes? I really, really don't. Those times include when you spend a plane ride making Twilight references and doing William Shatner impressions in the toilet. ♥

ETA: Forgot to post about this, possibly because it does not actually involve a link -- but, no doubt to spite me for writing that last post where I said House's awesome was beginning to wind down, I really enjoyed this week's episode. "That is why Wilson will never mate me." A+++++ Also, House at the computer, going into "work" mode? Please tell me somebody has .gif-ed that already.
snowystingray: (lost - braaaaains)
I am never going to finish this recap, am I? I don't know why I'm so demotivated this time around; in years past, it has always been my favorite bit of my year in review. Possibly I am just getting bogged down... um, yes, you can probably see why I needed to implement that "no new shows" rule. So, anyway, TV I Have Seen! Spoilers for: House, Legend of the Seeker, Leverage, Life on Mars, Lost, Mad Men, Merlin, NCIS, Psych, Pushing Daisies.

TV of 2009 )

WELL WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, this post is done for now and it's not even 1:30AM yet. I had to cut myself off at Robin Hood or else... yeah. Hmm. Badness would ensue; I'll save that for a later date.
snowystingray: (OM NOM NOM)
New to me TV of 2009. Keep in mind that this is with a self-imposed moratorium on picking up any new TV shows during the fall season, so... this is significantly less unwieldy (significantly more... wieldy...er?) than it might otherwise have been. Spoilers for: American Idol, Ashes to Ashes, Big Wolf on Campus, Chuck, Crusoe, Dollhouse, Farscape

TV of 2009 )

Aaaand I decided to cut this off because I'm cold and hungry and lazy and will probably never ever never get through the whole thing if I decide to do it as one behemoth of a post (...I am only about a quarter of the way through my shows -- and then you know I'm going to blab like twice as long over Lost and twenty times as long over Robin Hood). So expect future installments soon, picking up with... House! Which I literally never write about any more! And yet somehow I still watch every episode because it is impossible for me to drop a fandom. (PLUS WHAT WHAT WHAT MONDAY'S EPISODE WHAAAAT.)
snowystingray: (Default)
Somehow I have been neglecting all of my airing shows in favor of posting about canceled Medieval nonsense and on-a-fifty-million-month-hiatus shows with smoke monsters. Things I Have Been Meaning to Post About (plus spoiler space in case you are caught up on some but not on others)...

House! )Merlin! )NCIS! )

And, okay, apparently it is impossible for me to go very long without mentioning Robin Hood. But! For US viewers! "Do You Love Me" is airing this Saturday on BBCA, and I am urging you all to watch it. Could you say no to this face? Or more importantly, would you want to?

Oh, and I also meant to say that I continue to catch up with The Prisoner. I had kind of planned to finish it before the remake began airing, but I'm not quite sure if I'll make that deadline. The last episode I watched was "The Schizoid Man" and owwwwww my brain owwww. But in a good way.
snowystingray: (Default)
Okay. I know I have been barely posting about House lately. But.

BEST EPISODE EVER. OR NOT EVER, BUT AT LEAST IN A LONG, LONG, POST-AMBER WHILE. OMG. Maybe it's because I've been angsting over so much of my fiction as of late, but this was a beyond perfect example of angst that ends in heartwarming d'awwww and seriously COULD I LOVE WILSON ANY MORE?? NOT. IF. I. TRIED. (And believe you me, I certainly have.) Oh, House/Wilson. Sometimes you are frustrating as hell and sometimes you make me want to EXPLODE WITH GLEE. And sometimes you do both just to get me even more emotional about everything.

...No squee about Chuck because I have to wait and watch it in the morning. :( :( Well, I can go ahead and pre-summarize it for you: CAAAAASEEEEEYYYYYYY!!!!!
snowystingray: (Default)
In doing my Year in Fiction recap last time, I had the most fun -- and blew the most time! -- doing my TV post; and, as 2008 began drawing to a close, I sincerely looked forward to going through the same process again in putting together a TV of 2008 retrospective. Yet once work actually began... I. Wow. Holy balls, guys. I WATCH SO MUCH FRIGGEN TV. When exactly did that happen? Looking over my post from last year I felt a bit ridiculous about how many new fandoms I had picked up, but between now and then my list has just about tripled. Um. Err. Yeah. Oops? I apologize in advance for the rather epic nature of this post, then. Definitely not dial-up friendly. Spoilers for the most recent seasons of: American Idol, Big Wolf on Campus, Chuck, Crusoe, House M.D., Legend of the Seeker, Life on Mars, Lost, M*A*S*H, Mad Men, Merlin, The Middleman, Psych, Pushing Daisies, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate: SG-1, Star Trek: DS9, Star Trek: TOS.

I was feeling quite self-satisfied last night when I managed to peel myself away from the computer at the not-totally-ridiculous hour of about a quarter to midnight and head to bed.

And then, of course, I couldn't fall asleep.

("Time to establish normal sleeping patterns before going back to school!" the sensible half of my brain says. "But... but... think of all the Stargate we could be watching!" counters the other half. ...You see my dilemma).

I turned to my old standard method; viz., popping on the headphones and cruising the frequencies for some music to help me sleep. Fact: the radio is about a thousand times more awesome in the middle of the night. Less morning chatter, more "When did my adult contemporary station suddenly turn into a jivin' disco party mix on Saturday nights? *scandalized* *but intrigued*" My ultimate late night radio guilty pleasure -- Delilah. Oh yes, I listen. And occasionally cry, even. "OH MY GOD CYNTHIA FROM TEXAS EVEN THOUGH HE'S A JERK I AM SO SO SORRY THAT YOUR EX-HUSBAND WENT TO JAIL BECAUSE YOU CLEARLY AREN'T OVER HIM BUT GIRL DON'T FORGET YOU ARE SMART AND BEAUTIFUL SO DON'T BE AFRAID TO LIVE YOUR LIIIIFE!!" Although often ridiculous, it is sometimes genuinely sweet; and it plays the perfect sort of late 80s/early 90s "smooth (AKA boring) hits" for me to fall asleep to.

Last night I happened to be in the middle of listening to Genesis' "In Too Deep" when I gave myself a sudden case of the giggles because, well -- for some reason I've always connected this song with House/Wilson, and that is... so very, very lame. On so many levels. Once I started thinking about it, I realized that I actually have a tendency to do that with a lot of lame songs. You know, songs that are waaaay too embarrassing to ever include on any sort of fanmix, and yet that you can't help intimately associating with a particular show/ship/character/etc. A few of mine:

House/Wilson: ...I have no idea how/when/why I subconsciously appointed Genesis with providing the soundtrack for these two, but there you have it. "In Too Deep" (AHAHAHAHAAAA THE VIDEO MAKES IT ABOUT 125,947 TIMES BETTER *WIPES EYES*) as previously mentioned.

I know you're going, but I can't believe
It's the way that you're leaving,
It's like we never knew each other at all
It may be my fault,
I gave you too many reasons for being alone
When I didn't want to
I thought you'd always be there

Perfect for upcoming S5 post-Amber angst Y/Y?? And then "That's All" (IF POSSIBLE EVEN BETTER THAN THE LAST VID) offers a nice Wilson perspective (fits BEST ca. S2, I think):

Turning me on, turning me off,
Making me feel like I want too much
Living with you's just putting me through it all of the time
...
Truth is, I love you
More than I wanted to
There's no point in trying to pretend
There's been no one who
Makes me feel like you do

Star Trek: TOS: If I had the proper clips from the show, I would vid this one in a heartbeat. I mean, I can visualize it perfectly as an OT3 vid, and it's what plays in my head every time I listen to Michael Bublé's rendition of "I'm Your Man".

If you want a partner, take my hand
Or if you want to strike me down in anger
Here I stand
I'm your man
If you want a boxer
I will step into the ring for you
And if you want a doctor
I'll examine every inch of you

(Most ridiculous lyric ever? "Howl at your beauty like a dog in heat"? WHO WRITES THIS STUFF? And yet... I love it shamelessly.)

Robin Hood: I'm pretty sure I've already shared this one, but it's so perfect that it bears repeating. Robin/Marian (!! I KNOW!) to the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice":

Wouldnt it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong
...
Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do
We could be married
And then we'd be happy

Coincidentally, I love it for all of the reasons I ultimately don't ship Robin/Marian: it's youthful and sweet and over-idealized and way unrealistic for their situation. But, still, d'awww... it would be nice.

And, err, I think I already shared my embarrassing Guy/Marian pick.

SGA: Okay, the other thing that convinced me that this "ridiculous fandom songs" thing was a decided trend and not just a freak occurrence -- I also listened to my Emmy Rossum CD a bit last night, and "The Great Divide" (with a bonus PotO vid, as if we somehow needed to up the dork factor on this) has inexplicably become a central SGA song for me. I picture it, like... you know, mid-disaster McKay? Worn paper thin and hating the world but somehow using this moment to remember what he's fighting for and who he's fighting beside.

Help me calm this hurricane
Before this moment slips aways
Are you listening?
Don't turn away when I say
I need you

I think what makes me happiest about this is my complete and utter assurance that Rodney would, like, actively loathe it. *cackles*

Finally, this is suuuuch a silly John song: Adam and the Ants "Los Rancheros":

Soon my worries
Will be gone
Ranchero-ee-oo-o
There's a bullet with my name on it

To make me feel less epically lame, I now invite you all to share your own goofy inner soundtracks (fandom or otherwise).
snowystingray: (star trek)
Yeah, so. I read this fic yesterday, and it's kind of... the greatest thing ever. House, M.D./Phantom of the Opera crossover. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT. Filled with role playing and hilarity and AWESOME and all the best/worst conventions of Victorian novels including but not limited to overwrought descriptions and euphemistically tedius sex. Basically, yes. I'm serving up a big bowl of Frosted Mini WINS!! to [livejournal.com profile] srsly_yes for Phantom of the Operating Room.

In other fandom flaily news: if you, like myself, haven been moping over the lack of Star Trek teases set to appear at Comic-Con this year, console yourself with awesome new posters!

(Larger versions of each individual poster here.) However, I'm afraid my squee is tempered by my usual moaning and groaning: NEEDS MOAR MCCOY. I mean, what? Is that too much to ask? I get that, graphically, they probably just wanted to avoid duplicating the science blue, but come onnnn. Also found while poking around TrekMovie.com: really gorgeous shots of fans at home.

So, after my last post, I have decided that it is indeed official: thanks first to watching Psych's "Dis-Lodged" and then to House's "Frozen" and "Don't Ever Change," I declare this past week of television to be the pinnacle of slashiness. Maybe it's something in the air...? Who knows? I'm not one to question my blessings; the Lord works in mysterious ways. Of course this has to be commemorated in picspam form, though.

For the third and final part of my Fictional 2007 review, I bring you my year in television shows. This post has been an embarrassingly long time in the making (as evidenced by the fact that I did the first two within the same day and yet have been adding onto this one for the better part of the week), because, wow. I don't think I quite realized just how many new TV shows I've picked up on the wayside. I remember a few years ago making an agreement with myself to limit my major TV fandoms to only House and Lost, because I was HUGELY invested in both of those and didn't think I could make room for another obsession of a similar caliber. And then somehow I justified watching a few summer shows, some reality TV, maybe some educational programming... and holy bejeebies where did all these fandoms come from? I also blame the fact that, through some installation mix-up or something, I've been getting full cable (70+ channels) at school for the past semester despite the fact that I only pay for basic (about 15 channels); and being the terrible person that I am, I've decided to milk the mistake for as long as I can (and, ooh, spooky coincidence -- my Comcast bill literally just popped up in my inbox as I typed this. Weirdly enough, this is one bill I don't get annoyed at paying; instead, I get excited about having another month of TV!!! :D Yes, I am in desperate need of a life).

Caution: contains lots of large-ish images, as well as spoilery discussion of the most recent seasons of Lost, House, Robin Hood, Psych, Star Trek: TOS, Star Trek: DS9, American Idol, and Pushing Daisies

AND AT 9:49 P.M., HOUSE/WILSON FANS EVERYWHERE DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPHOLYCRAP.

Perpetuating the meme isn't really necessary, but if you would like for me to choose some of your interests, just ask!

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post your this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

My seven interests; no pictures, but a bunch of YouTube videos )

Now back to being productive. And by "being productive" I mean "sitting in front of my computer eating ramen and watching House/Wilson videos on YouTube."

Even though I've still got almost three weeks before I go back up to school, all this hullabaloo is making me feel anxious already. Both of my parents started teacher work days today, and my little brother is moving in to his dorm at the end of the week. So I was grateful to have one last perfectly lazy Sunday afternoon yesterday.

We drove over to Tampa to watch Casablanca at the Tampa Theatre. I tried to do some back-to-school clothes shopping -- I'm pretty sure my wardrobe has been almost exactly the same since the eleventh grade -- but all I ended up buying was a scrub brush for our dorm shower. It doesn't really matter that it was less than exciting, though, because my favourite part of going shopping in Tampa is driving around Bayshore Boulevard.

The rest of my narration includes large visual aids. )

House last night seriously owned my life. So. Freaking. Good.

Spoilers for House Training )

Uggh, I know I watch way too much TV, but I just had to watch American Idol last night, too. I actually think it's really great that they're doing the whole Idol Gives Back thing, but sheesh! Way to drag it out as long as humanly possible! ...Of course, I'm still going to be sucked into watching it again tonight. Curse you, Cake! I am more invested in American Idol than any person over the age of thirteen has any right to be. If either Chris or Blake goes home tonight, I will be very very very sad. I know a lot of people have expressed concern about Chris, but this was actually the first week where I enjoyed his performance more than Blake's. Still, though... *fingers crossed*
snowystingray: (house/wilson)
Wow, we have so much Halloween candy left over! I guess I have to eat it now... Other than passing out candy, our night was rather uneventful. We to dinner dressed up, but that was about it. Any and all potential Halloween plans were completely subordinated to the RETURN OF HOUSE!!

Spoilery gushing over the latest (and greatest) episode of House this season )

Man, this week and next with back-to-back nights of House and Lost might just be too much for this fangirl's heart to handle.
snowystingray: (Default)
[livejournal.com profile] katwm80 had better be proud of me. I finally, finally watched "House" last night. Not only that, but I enjoyed it. I've already picked out House/Wilson as my OTP, although I decided that before watching my first episode, thanks to this post.

I finally finished reading Invisible Man, but I still haven't decided what type of project I want to do. I have to finish it next week, too, so I had better come up with something soon. I started rereading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy for the first time in a lo-o-ong while. I think it's been about three or four years since the last time I read it. I just wanted to make sure that I read it before the movie comes out (Eee! I can't wait!). But, seriously, whose bright idea was it to have Alan Rickman voice Marvin? I feel horrible because in every promo I am totally perving on him... Oh well... Marvin needs love too, I guess.
